Samsung Reveals EVO Plus 256GB MicroSD Card

Samsung has unveiled a massive new Class 10 MicroSD card, boasting 256GB of storage space. The EVO Plus 256GB microSD card – which can hold the equivalent of around 55,200 photos, 12 hours of 4K UHD video, 33 hours of 1080p video, 46 hours of 720p video, or 23,500 mp3s – is the largest card in its class, using Samsung’s advanced V-NAND technology, and has read/writes speeds of 95MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively.

The UHS-1, (U3) compatible card is waterproof, temperature-proof, X-ray-proof, and magnet-proof, and its high capacity makes it perfect recording and storing HD and 4K video on the go.

“With the upward trend of consumers using high-performance, high-capacity mobile devices, our new, V-NAND-based 256GB microSD card solution allows us to deliver the memory card consumers have been craving,” Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing for Memory Business at Samsung Electronics, said. “Our EVO Plus 256GB microSD card, will provide consumers with large capacity, and high read and write speeds. We are excited to offer our customers convenient and seamless multimedia experiences when they access, store and share all of the content they create and capture.”

The Samsung EVO Plus 256GB MicroSD card goes on sale in the US, Europe, and China this June, with an RRP of $249.99 and comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
