New York Driver Hits Tree While Playing Pokemon GO

There is no doubt that Pokemon GO is taking the world by storm, driving usually indoors gamers out into the real world around them to catch Pokemon. Earlier this week we reported a car accident caused by drivers choosing to engross themselves in Pokemon GO while driving, which turned out to be a hoax. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before it came true, with one hopeful trainer from New York crashing straight into a tree while playing the popular AR game.

Thankfully, despite the state of his car after the accident, the driver was not badly injured, being found disoriented by police responding to the scene before he was sent to Auburn Community Hospital via Ambulance. He later admitted to police that he had not been paying attention to where he was going due to being too distracted by the smartphone game at the time.

While it shouldn’t need to be stated for many players, following the incident Auburn police released a bullet pointed list of Dos and Don’ts while playing Pokemon GO to the public. The advice includes the obvious advice not to drive while playing, as well as being careful of your surroundings and making sure that you aren’t trespassing in your quest to catch more monsters.

This is just the latest (and perhaps most dangerous) in a week of exciting Pokemon GO news, which has seen events ranging from muggings conducted using the game to a young woman finding a dead body in a river. Additionally, there are numerous police reports coming in regarding events such as an illegally parked car, whose driver had left the vehicle in order to catch a Pokemon to suspicious vehicles found to simply be full of Pokemon GO players. Remember, Pokemon GO may be fun, but make sure it doesn’t get you into trouble while playing!
