Today they tie on the cable that will unite the two sides of the Atlantic

' Marea ', the submarine fiber optic cable with the highest capacity of data transmission in the world, built by Facebook and Microsoft to join both sides of the Atlantic and will be operated by Telxius (Telefónica), will be moored this Tuesday at the beach of Arrietaa, in the United, Bizkaia.

With 6,600 km in length, eight pairs of fiber optics and a capacity of 160 tbps, ' Marea ' is the submarine cable of greater capacity that has never crossed the Atlantic and also the first to connect the United States with the south of Europe.

The new submarine cable, joining Virginia Beach, on the east coast of the United States with the coast of Bizkaia, will help meet the demanding demands of customers in high speed, reliable cloud connections and online services for Microsoft, Facebook and the customers of both companies.

This route goes south of other transatlantic cabling systems, so it ensures a more flexible and reliable connection for customers in the United States, Europe and the rest of the areas.

Facebook and Microsoft collaborate in this system to accelerate the development of the new generation of Internet infrastructure and to support the explosion of consumption of data and the rapid growth of their respective "clouds" (storage services on physical servers usually located underground) and online services.

For its part, Telxius, the telecommunications infrastructure company recently created by Telefónica and with many years of experience in this new innovative submarine optical cable system, will be the system operator and sell the capacity as part of its wholesale infrastructure business.

Microsoft and Facebook have designed tide to be interoperable with a wide variety of network equipment.

This design, more open, brings important benefits for customers: lower costs and simpler equipment upgrades, leading to rapid growth in bandwidth ratios as the system can evolve at the same pace of innovation in optical technology.
