The hacker broke into the Ronin blockchain bridge and withdrew cryptocurrency worth over $ 625 million, representatives of the crypto project reported about the incident. They said that the attacker took advantage of the network vulnerability on March 23, but the problem was discovered only on March 29, when one of the users could not withdraw 5 thousand Ethereum.

The blockchain operator said that the work of the Ronin bridge is temporarily suspended to exclude the possibility of further attacks. He will return to work once the team is satisfied that the rest of the funds cannot be stolen. The project works with law enforcement officials, forensic cryptographers and investors, and also tracks stolen funds together with Chainalysis.

At the moment, the Ronin hack is the largest in the field of decentralized finance. It was ahead of the previous record theft of 93.7 thousand. Ethereum from the Wormhole protocol, which occurred in February of this year.
